Overview
Join a leading rail and tank car repair facility as a Welder & Fabricator, where your skills will play a pivotal role in maintaining and enhancing railcar operations. This position involves a dynamic mix of welding and fabricating tasks, with a focus on long-term growth and certification in railcar repair.
Responsibilities
- Perform welding tasks using mig/flux techniques 20% of the time.
- Engage in fabricating and assembling 80% of the time.
- Read and interpret blueprints to ensure precise execution of tasks.
- Cut steel using an Oxy-Torch for various projects.
- Fit up and tack weld components as needed.
- Weld overhead when required to ensure structural integrity.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient railcar repair processes.
Requirements
- Proficiency in mig and flux welding.
- Ability to weld overhead effectively.
- Competence in reading and interpreting blueprints.
- Experience in structural welding.
- Familiarity with railcars, tank cars, and hopper cars.
- Experience in railcar repair is highly beneficial.
- Understanding of fabrication processes and production drawings.
- Knowledge of standards set by the Association of American Railroads and the Federal Railroad Administration.

Additional Information
- The work takes place in a non-climate-controlled manufacturing facility.
- Shifts run from 6:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday, with some Saturdays required.
- This is a fully onsite position in Hockley, TX.
