Overview

The WELDER LEADER position at the DEPARTMENT OF NAVY involves overseeing welding operations at various naval shipyards and facilities. The role includes passing on instructions, checking work progress, and performing site inspections.

Responsibilities

  • Pass on instructions to members of the work group.
  • Check and report work progress of the group.
  • Perform work site inspections.
  • Receive job or work assignments from welding supervisor.
  • Check and report work progress of the group including written documentation and shift assist requests.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.
  • New employees must successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • May be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • Must obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty.
  • This is a Drug Testing position; successful completion of a pre-employment drug test is required.
  • Must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • May require exposure to high noise levels.
  • Must show through experience and training the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary for the position.
