Job Description

Overview

The Welder position involves waterfront shipboard construction and re-modernization work on U.S. Naval ships, requiring skills in various welding processes and adherence to safety procedures. The role is based in shipyards and drydocks, with a focus on applying appropriate welding techniques to join and repair metal parts.

Responsibilities

  • Applies appropriate welding processes to join, surface, fabricate, or repair parts of metal or other materials.
  • Works from blueprints, engineering sketches, charts, or work orders.
  • Lays out and marks points on parts or subassemblies using rules, squares, scribes, or templates.
  • Uses measuring instruments and hand tools to position pieces that require welding into jigs and fixtures.
  • May inspect completed work for conformance to specifications.
  • Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
  • Participates in special projects as required.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • 1+ years of related experience.
  • US Citizenship required.
  • Skills in Blueprints, Welding, and Welding Procedures.
  • Required certifications in MIG, Flux core, and Stick welding.
