Overview

McNeilus Truck and Manufacturing Inc., an Oshkosh Company, is an industry-leading designer and manufacturer of refuse truck bodies. The Welder II position involves operating welding equipment to build high-quality parts and products while ensuring safety and compliance with procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Operate welding equipment to build high-quality parts, subassemblies, and finished products.
  • Weld various products and perform different welding techniques including flat, vertical, and overhead positions.
  • Heat and form metal parts using hand tools and welding equipment.
  • Operate an overhead crane to maneuver parts safely into place.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment in compliance with safety procedures.
  • Train and work in various areas of production as needed.
  • Position, assemble, and weld metal parts according to blueprints.
  • Operate robot/Tube welder and troubleshoot as necessary.
  • Rework raw material and finished machines.

Requirements

  • One year of applicable position experience or an evaluated equivalent.
  • Passed weld test through pre-employment test or internal weld program.
  • High School Diploma or GED is preferred.
  • Knowledge of a minimum of three weld stations without assistance.
  • Ability to perform job tasks with little to no quality defects.
  • Willingness to learn to change their own wire.
  • Class A/B surface welding proficiency.
  • Ability to weld on a truck chassis (Dodge Center only).
  • Understanding of quality defects within welds.
