Overview

You will serve as a Welder in the Department of the Navy, working at various naval shipyards and facilities. Applicants will only be considered for positions within their own UIC.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and associate metals, alloys, and filler metal by color code and standard markings.
  • Produce welds to the acceptance standards of NDT, strength, tightness, or pressure tests.
  • Use test methods for determining metals or alloys.
  • Inspect completed welding projects.
  • Use various welding machines and processes to weld piping parts or structures.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.
  • New employees must pass the E-Verify employment verification check.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • May be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • Must obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance.
  • This is a Drug Testing position requiring successful completion of a pre-employment drug test.
  • May be required to wear personal protective equipment continuously.
  • Work may be performed in areas with harmful physical and chemical agents.
  • May require travel to CONUS and OCONUS locations.
  • May be subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

  • Salary is based on geographical location and subject to change with annual local wage surveys.
  • This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program.
  • Temporary promotions may be extended up to 5 years at management's discretion.
