Overview
This position is for a Welder specializing in combination and maintenance work on U.S. Naval ships, requiring the ability to work in varying temperatures and perform welding tasks according to blueprints and specifications. The role is with GDIT, a global technology and professional services company.
Responsibilities
- Applies appropriate welding processes to join, surface, fabricate, or repair parts of metal or other materials that require welding.
- Works from blueprints, engineering sketches, charts, or work orders.
- Lays out and marks points on parts or subassemblies using rule, square, scribe or templates.
- Uses measuring instruments and hand tools to position pieces that require welding into jigs, holding fixtures, guides, and steps.
- May inspect completed work for conformance to specifications.
- Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
- Participates in special projects, as required.
Requirements
- High School Diploma/GED.
- 1+ years of related experience.
- US Citizenship required.
- Skills in Blueprints, Welding, and Welding Procedures.
- Required certifications in MIG, Flux core, and Stick welding.
