Overview

You will serve as a Welder in the Department of the Navy, working at various naval shipyards and facilities. The position requires identifying metals, producing welds, and inspecting completed projects.

Responsibilities

• Identify and associate metals, alloys, and filler metal by color code and standard markings.
• Produce welds to the acceptance standards of NDT, strength, tightness, or pressure tests.
• Use test methods for determining metals or alloys.
• Inspect completed welding projects.
• Use various welding machines and processes to weld piping parts or structures.

Requirements

• Must be a US Citizen.
• Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
• Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.
• New employees must pass the E-Verify employment verification check.
• Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
• May be required to complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
• Must obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance.
• This is a Drug Testing position; successful completion of a pre-employment drug test is required.
• May be required to wear personal protective equipment continuously.
• Work may be performed in areas with harmful physical and chemical agents.
• May require travel to CONUS and OCONUS locations.
• May require working uncommon tours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
