Overview

Continental Tide Defense Systems, Inc. is an industry leader providing engineering and industrial services to the U.S. Navy and other DoD organizations. They are seeking a highly skilled Welder III to perform complex welding tasks in support of ship repair and maritime fabrication projects in Norfolk, VA.

Responsibilities

  • Join, fabricate, and repair metal and other weldable material using appropriate welding techniques.
  • Perform various welding processes to repair, modify, and install pipes, structures, and fittings associated with shipboard systems.
  • Fabricate and install fixtures and jigs for welding process alignments.
  • Interpret blueprints and specifications to determine appropriate welding processes.
  • Select required welding filler materials and processes to ensure quality operations.
  • Inspect completed welds for structural soundness and adherence to standards.
  • Install or repair equipment such as pipes, valves, and tank linings.
  • Clamp, hold, tack-weld, heat-bend, grind, or bolt components for welding.
  • Operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment using various processes.
  • Weld multiple types and sizes of materials in various positions.
  • Document quality evidence to the requisite forms.
  • Estimate drawing packages and installations.
  • Utilize welding techniques including SMAW, GMAW, GTAW, and cutting torches.
  • Provide leadership to technical project teams and deliver updates to customers.

Requirements

  • Must possess a high school, trade, or vocational school degree.
  • Target of 10 years plus of direct experience in ship repair and installation.
  • Ability to read and interpret ship installation drawings and specifications is preferred.
  • Must have or be able to obtain a SECRET clearance.
  • Must have the ability to obtain base access and security credentials.
  • Travel may be required within and outside of the continental United States.
  • Due to export control regulations, this role is open to U.S. citizens only.
  • Possess basic and some advanced specialized welder's tools.
  • Previous welding certifications or ability to obtain qualifications may be used in lieu of experience.
