Overview
Rogers Group, Inc. is a privately held aggregates and asphalt highway construction company seeking an experienced Welder/Fabricator for the Maintenance Technician role at the Oliver Springs Quarry in Tennessee. The position involves the fabrication, repair, modification, and maintenance of quarry equipment and systems to support safe and efficient operations.
Responsibilities
- Perform MIG, Stick, Flux Core, and oxy-fuel cutting operations on quarry equipment and plant structures.
- Fabricate, repair, and install conveyor systems, crusher components, chutes, hoppers, guards, handrails, platforms, and structural steel.
- Read and interpret blueprints, fabrication drawings, and equipment specifications.
- Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair damaged or worn plant equipment and production components.
- Cut, fit, layout, and weld materials to required dimensions and tolerances.
- Operate welding and fabrication equipment including welders, torches, plasma cutters, grinders, drill presses, ironworkers, and saws.
- Perform preventative maintenance and emergency repairs to minimize equipment downtime.
- Assist maintenance personnel with equipment shutdowns, rebuilds, and plant improvement projects.
- Operate forklifts, man lifts, and other equipment as required.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area and ensure tools and equipment remain in safe working condition.
- Follow all MSHA regulations, company safety policies, and required PPE standards.
Requirements
- Strong welding, cutting, fabrication, and fitting skills.
- Knowledge of quarry plant operations and heavy industrial equipment.
- Ability to diagnose structural and mechanical failures and recommend repairs.
- Ability to work independently and efficiently under minimal supervision.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Ability to safely perform physical labor in outdoor environments and around moving equipment.
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of welding and fabrication experience, preferably in aggregate, mining, construction, or heavy industrial environments.
- Proficiency in structural welding, equipment repair, and metal fabrication.
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and fabrication drawings.
- Experience working around crushers, conveyors, screens, and heavy equipment preferred.
- Valid driver's license required.
