Overview

You will serve as a WELDER LEADER in the DEPARTMENT OF NAVY, overseeing work sites including Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, Norfolk Naval Shipyard, Trident Refit Facility Bangor, and Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard and Intermediate Maintenance Facility. Applicants will only be considered for positions within their own UIC.

Responsibilities

  • Pass on instructions to members of the work group.
  • Check and report work progress of the group.
  • Perform work site inspections.
  • Receive job or work assignments from welding supervisor.
  • Check and report work progress of the group including written documentation and shift assist requests.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.
  • New employees to the Department of the Navy must pass the E-Verify employment verification check.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • May be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • Must obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty.
  • This is a Drug Testing position; successful completion of a pre-employment drug test is required.
  • May be required to wear personal protective equipment continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • May require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS.
  • May be subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Additional Information

  • Salary is based on geographical location and is subject to change with annual local wage surveys.
  • This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program.
  • Temporary promotions may be extended up to 5 years at the discretion of management.
  • Certain incentives may be authorized to eligible selectees.
