Overview

At RTX, the world's largest aerospace and defense company, the 1st Shift Welder/Brazer I position involves learning to set up and operate welding machines, inspecting dimensions, and supporting production processes. Responsibilities

• Learn how to set up and operate automatic and manual welding machines according to specifications.
• Perform cleaning operations as required in production.
• Inspect and check dimensions using precision gauges and measuring instruments.
• Learn alloy and assembly for furnace operations.
• Operate CNC equipment as required to complete the weld.
• Perform cleaning operations after welding as required.
• Learn how to perform non-production welds.
• Read and interpret blueprints and specifications sheets.
• Accurately complete production documentation and perform necessary labor transactions.
• Support and follow all rules/guidelines/standards set by EHS, Quality, and CI functions.
• Actively participate in the Continuous Improvement process and safety-related activities.
• Work extended shifts/overtime as required by the business.
• Some holiday hours may be required based on business need.

Requirements

• Typically requires HS diploma or equivalent (e.g. G.E.D. in the US) or vocational/technical education in a related discipline.
• Manufacturing background preferred.
• TIG welding background preferred.
• Ability to learn how to read and understand prints.
• Computer experience (e-mail, print documents, internet) and ability to learn how to operate a computer to access prints and/or specified work instructions.
• Basic shop math including knowledge of Geometric Tolerances.
