Overview

The Welder position involves waterfront shipboard construction and re-modernization, working within shipyards and drydocks onboard U.S. Naval ships. The role requires applying various welding processes and working from blueprints in varying temperatures.

Responsibilities

• Applies appropriate welding processes to join, surface, fabricate, or repair parts of metal or other materials that require welding.
• Works from blueprints, engineering sketches, charts, or work orders.
• Lays out and marks points on parts or subassemblies using rule, square, scribe or templates.
• Uses measuring instruments and hand tools to position pieces that require welding into jigs, holding fixtures, guides, and steps.
• May inspect completed work for conformance to specifications.
• Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
• Participates in special projects, as required.

Requirements

• High School Diploma/GED
• 1+ years of related experience
• US Citizenship required
• Skills in Blueprints, Welding, Welding Procedures
• Certifications in MIG (Aluminum GMAW), Flux core (FCAW carbon steel and stainless), Stick weld (SMAW carbon steel stainless)
• Preferred experience in TIG (GTAW all metals, CUNI, and copper/face feed Certification in Brazing)
