Overview

Astec is a global, environmentally focused infrastructure and manufacturing company specializing in asphalt road building and aggregate processing. The Welder position on the 2nd shift involves safely fitting and welding metal parts for the construction of asphalt plant equipment.

Responsibilities

• Assist in building asphalt plant equipment and related components by fitting and welding metal parts.
• Demonstrate ability to weld using the GMAW and FCAW processes.
• Inspect metal prior to welding for smoothness and acceptability.
• Ensure welding machine settings are appropriate for the work.
• Follow proper safety rules and procedures, including PPE requirements.
• Work overtime including weekends as necessary.

Requirements

• Ability and experience to weld properly and safely using GMAW and FCAW.
• Ability to read and understand weld symbols on drawings.
• Ability to safely use cranes and forklifts.
• Must be able to pass a welding skills test.
• Fit-up knowledge and ability required.
• High school diploma or equivalent certification required.
