Overview
NSC Staffing is seeking Tig Welders with 2-5 years of experience for a project in San Diego, focusing on the repair and modernization of marine vessels. This position offers an opportunity to join a skilled team working with the U.S. Navy, Military Sealift Command, and commercial ships.
Responsibilities
- Read a tape measure
- Layout Material
- Fit-Up Material
- Rigging
- Read a blueprint/drawing/tech manual
- Perform comprehensive torch and weld work
- Use radius gage
- Operate hand power tools
- Utilize shop tools/equipment
Requirements
- Must have verifiable Tig experience
- Ability to comprehend and utilize blueprints, sketches, drawings, and technical manuals to weld metals
- Must have a strong work ethic, be self-motivated, and be able to multitask
- Understand the work process to measure, cut, and weld metal to required specifications
- Ability to weld metal using various requirements and procedures such as SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, and FCAW
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment with ongoing deadlines
- Must be able to work independently
- Understanding of the ship repair industry
- Must be DBIDS and TWIC credential-eligible
- Pipe welding test is given in a restricted position (6 G) on a 5'' schedule 80 carbon steel pipe

Additional Information
- Open-air conditions such as noise, hot and cold, and in an office-controlled environment
- May have to visit projects aboard ships, rigs on and offshore, and confined spaces
- Visits may require standing on various surfaces at differing angles, bending over, crouching, and climbing obstructions.
