Overview

NSC Staffing is seeking Tig Welders with 2-5 years of experience for a project in San Diego, focusing on the repair and modernization of marine vessels. This position offers an opportunity to join a skilled team working with the U.S. Navy, Military Sealift Command, and commercial ships.

Responsibilities

• Read a tape measure
• Layout Material
• Fit-Up Material
• Rigging
• Read a blueprint/drawing/tech manual
• Perform comprehensive torch and weld work
• Use radius gage
• Operate hand power tools
• Utilize shop tools/equipment

Requirements

• Must have verifiable Tig experience
• Ability to comprehend and utilize blueprints, sketches, drawings, and technical manuals to weld metals
• Must have a strong work ethic, be self-motivated, and be able to multitask
• Understand the work process to measure, cut, and weld metal to required specifications
• Ability to weld metal using various requirements and procedures such as SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, and FCAW
• Able to work in a fast-paced environment with ongoing deadlines
• Must be able to work independently
• Understanding of the ship repair industry
• Must be DBIDS and TWIC credential-eligible
• Pipe welding test is given in a restricted position (6 G) on a 5'' schedule 80 carbon steel pipe

Additional Information

• Open-air conditions such as noise, hot and cold, and in an office-controlled environment
• May have to visit projects aboard ships, rigs on and offshore, and confined spaces
• Visits may require standing on various surfaces at differing angles, bending over, crouching, and climbing obstructions.
