The Pipe Department Welder Journeyman 1 role involves performing welding tasks and ensuring safety and quality in a marine environment.
Responsibilities
- Complies with craft and shipyard safety and environmental measures.
- Works from ship specifications, work orders, and applicable working drawings and blueprints.
- Performs TIG welding on Carbon, Stainless, and CuNi piping.
- Installs new and/or affects repairs to ships piping.
- Prepares surfaces by grinding and chipping.
- Comprehends and understands marine architectural blueprints.
- Maintains a clean and orderly work area.
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED preferred.
- 5 - 10 years relevant work experience.
- Proven skills and applicable education will be considered in lieu of work experience.
- Must certify to ½" CuNi socket, ½" Stainless socket, and 3 position fillet break.
- Four-hour fire watch certification.
- HAZWOPER - First Responder Awareness Level.
