Overview

The WELDER LEADER position at the DEPARTMENT OF NAVY involves overseeing welding operations at various naval shipyards and facilities. The role requires strong leadership skills and the ability to manage work progress and inspections.

Responsibilities

  • Pass on instructions to members of the work group.
  • Check and report work progress of the group.
  • Perform work site inspections.
  • Receive job or work assignments from welding supervisor.
  • Check and report work progress of the group including written documentation and shift assist requests.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.
  • New employees must successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • May be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • Must obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty.
  • This is a Drug Testing position requiring successful completion of a pre-employment drug test.
  • May be required to wear personal protective equipment continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • Work may be performed in areas with potentially harmful physical and chemical agents.
  • May require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS.
  • May be subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

  • Salary is based on geographical location and is subject to change with annual local wage surveys.
  • This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program.
  • Temporary promotions may be extended up to 5 years at the discretion of management.
