Overview

Vigor Marine Group is a national leader in marine maintenance, modernization, and fabrication, seeking an Aluminum Welder - Associate 4 for day shift work. The role involves performing various welding tasks, ensuring safety compliance, and contributing to the company's mission of supporting national security through maritime services.

Responsibilities

• Complies with craft and shipyard safety and environmental measures.
• Works from ship specifications, work orders, and applicable working drawings and blueprints.
• Performs burning and effectively uses scarfing tip for clean-up and beveling parts.
• Executes Arc welding - SMAW, FCAW, GMAW as needed.
• Performs carbon arc gouging for weld preparation and cleanup.
• Cares for and safely uses hand and power tools.
• Coordinates the performance and completion of job specifications.
• May perform similar work in all areas of the Yard as needed.

Requirements

• Minimum 4 years of experience with GMAW.
• High School diploma or GED preferred.
• 2-6 years relevant work experience.
• Proven skills, work history, and/or applicable education will be considered in lieu of work experience.
• Ability to communicate effectively and work independently or in a group.
• Ability to do basic math, including fractions.
• Thorough knowledge of marine fitting including compound shapes.
• SMAW, FCAW, GTAW experience is helpful.
• Capable of passing GMAW weld test and 2G, 3G, 4G Aluminum weld test on 3/8 plate to AWS D1.2 standards.
• Four-hour fire watch certification.
• HAZWOPER- First Responder Awareness Level.

• Works indoors and outdoors, exposed to various environmental conditions.
• Requires safety equipment such as welding helmet, eye protection, and hearing protection.
