Overview

The Welder - Manufacturing position involves welding metal parts according to customer specifications and certified standards. The role requires compliance with procedures and performance tests, and may include non-code welding tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Welds metal parts together in accordance with customer specifications.
  • Passes certified welders test and blueprint test.
  • Receives instructions from foreman and interprets blueprints and assembly drawings.
  • Plans and executes the working procedure for assembling and welding parts.
  • Regulates current or gas for proper fusion and penetration of metals.
  • Uses appropriate electrodes or wire types to produce required welds.
  • Utilizes jigs and fixtures or improvises holding devices for job completion.
  • Sets up and operates related machines and equipment as instructed.
  • Ensures dimensional and quality conformance of completed work.
  • Maintains a clean and safe work area.
  • Prepares work records and other paperwork as required.
  • Performs other tasks as necessary to fulfill primary function.

Requirements

  • Must have been in the Certified Welder classification for a minimum of 5 years.
  • Must be certified in a minimum of 4 welding processes (Mig, Tig, Stick, Fluxcore, or Submerged Arc).
  • Code welders with more than 1 year but less than 5 years can be moved to Senior Certified Welder at management's discretion.
