Overview
Continental Tide Defense Systems, Inc. is an industry leader providing engineering and industrial services to the U.S. Navy and other DoD organizations. They are seeking a highly skilled Welder III to perform complex welding tasks in support of ship repair and maritime fabrication projects in Norfolk, VA.
Responsibilities
- Join, fabricate, and repair metal and other weldable material using appropriate welding techniques.
- Perform various welding processes to repair, modify, and install pipes, structures, foundations, and fittings.
- Fabricate and install fixtures and jigs for welding process alignments.
- Interpret blueprints, specifications, diagrams, or schematics for welding processes.
- Select welding filler materials, joint design, and processes to ensure quality operations.
- Inspect completed welds for structural soundness and adherence to standards.
- Install or repair equipment such as pipes, valves, and tank linings.
- Clamp, hold, tack-weld, heat-bend, grind, or bolt component parts for welding.
- Operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment using various processes.
- Weld multiple types, thicknesses, and sizes of materials in various positions.
- Document quality evidence to requisite forms.
- Estimate a drawing package or installation.
- Utilize SMAW, GMAW, GTAW, Ship Fitting, and OXY ACC & Propane GAS Cutting torch.
- Provide leadership to technical project teams and deliver updates to customers.
Requirements
- Must possess a high school, trade, or vocational school degree.
- Target of 10 years plus of direct experience in ship repair and installation of HM&E systems.
- Ability to read and interpret ship installation drawings and specifications is preferred.
- Must have or have the ability to obtain a SECRET clearance.
- Must have the ability to obtain base access and security credentials.
- Travel may be required within and outside of the continental United States.
- Due to export control regulations, this role is open to U.S. citizens only.
- Possess basic and some advanced specialized welder's tools.
- Previous welding certifications or ability to obtain welding qualifications may be used in lieu of experience.
