Overview
As a Fabrication/Welder Mechanic at 3M, you will collaborate with innovative teams to impact the production process through welding, troubleshooting, and equipment maintenance. 3M is a global company that values diversity and creativity among its employees.
Responsibilities
- Work with shop fabrication, including drawings and print packages.
- Modify facility and production equipment.
- Perform welding, rigging, site maintenance, and millwright work.
- Troubleshoot and solve mechanical and electrical equipment problems.
- Collaborate with engineering on equipment upgrades.
- Maintain the reliability of plant and production equipment.
- Perform predictive and preventative maintenance routes.
- Establish and maintain equipment documentation and spare parts.
- Conduct root cause failure analysis.
- Utilize PC maintenance management system tools for analysis, planning, and scheduling.
- Read and interpret mechanical blueprints and symbols.
Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Completion of a technical degree, diploma, or certificate in mechanical crafts related to this trade.
- Minimum of 540 hours of documented military school related to this trade is acceptable.
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule and overtime as necessary.
- Future certification for PIV's, respirators, and aerial lifts will be required.
- Knowledge of welding types and procedures.
- Proficiency in welding Mild Steel, MIG, Stainless Steel, and Aluminum (TIG/Plasma).
- Experience with fabrication equipment such as metal brake/shear, drill press, band saws, hydraulic press, hammer drilling, grinding, and finishing work.
