Overview

Colonna's Shipyard is seeking an experienced NDT Level III to assist in the weld/braze/NDT programs for ship repair and industrial fabrication operations for government and commercial customers. The role involves managing welding and NDT operations while ensuring compliance with quality and safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the administration and oversight of the Weld Program and its subordinate staff.
• Maintain welder qualifications/certifications in applicable systems (NavWeld).
• Maintain NDT inspector qualifications/certifications in applicable systems (NavNDT).
• Develop quality and workmanship demonstration standards and administer qualification exams.
• Interpret and evaluate welding requirements to support production and operations teams.
• Manage various internal and external weld and brazing audits and inspections.
• Create, review, and revise Weld/Braze/PCP procedures and maintain documentation.
• Execute PQR development including planning and testing of materials.
• Review technical specifications during Work Package reviews to provide guidance.
• Collaborate with other Quality department members to manage relevant procedures.
• Act as a liaison with internal teams, customers, vendors, and regulators.
• Track and report on the weld program's key metrics and performance indicators.
• Serve as a primary liaison between Colonna's Shipyard and customers.
• Collaborate with executive leadership and management to maintain a strong weld program.

Requirements

• Ten years of experience in welding, weld quality, or related positions in ship repair or industrial fabrication.
• Knowledge of standard welding codes and requirements such as Tech-Pub 248, ABS Classification Rules, ASME, AWS D1.1 and D1.5.
• At least two years of experience performing or overseeing NDT inspections/program.
• Level III certification in NDT disciplines they oversee or as directed.
• Demonstrated knowledge of welding processes including SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, and SAW.
• Ability to recertify NDTs for VT, MT, PT, and UTT qualifications in 30 days.
• Exceptional interpersonal, negotiation, collaboration, leadership, and communication skills.
• Strong organizational, time management, prioritization, and multitasking capabilities.
• Ability to communicate effectively with others.
• Must be able to obtain/maintain access credentials to worksites.

Additional Information

• Position located onsite in Norfolk, VA.
• May require hours beyond a standard work week with flexible schedule availability.
• Occasional travel of 15% or less.
