Overview

ABW is seeking intermediate and experienced aluminum and stainless steel TIG Fitter/Welders who take pride in producing quality fabricated parts while meeting customer requirements and schedules. The role requires the ability to read and understand shop drawings and perform welding tasks with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Read and understand shop drawings.
  • Fit and weld components according to weld procedures.
  • Account for weld shrinkage during welding.
  • Pass in-house and customer inspections.
  • Participate in in-house testing and certification.

Requirements

  • 3 years of TIG welding experience required.
  • Ability to read and understand drawings and tolerances.
  • Familiarity with ASME pressure vessel/tank manufacturing preferred.
  • Experience with nozzle schedules, weld maps, flux core, and submerged arc is beneficial.

  • Work four 10-hour shifts, Monday through Thursday, from 6 am to 4:30 pm.
  • Overtime as required.

What you'll be running

This posting calls for TIG and Flux-Core work. TIG (GTAW) uses a non-consumable tungsten electrode with filler added by hand, giving the operator the most control of any process. It is the workhorse on heavy structural steel and shipbuilding, where thick sections and long welds reward speed.
