Overview
The primary purpose of this position is to repair and/or replace automotive body panels and fenders, refinish vehicle bodies, and perform welding work in the repair, modification, and assembly of various types of metal and alloy parts for vehicles using gas and electric methods.
Responsibilities
- Plans and lays out work from blueprints, sketches, drawings, specifications, and work orders in the repair of damaged automotive body parts.
- Develops patterns, cuts, forms, joins, assembles, and installs items and systems with combined straight and curved edges or irregular curves, angles, and planes.
- Straightens and repairs damaged automotive body parts.
- Repairs and rebuilds mainframe and body structural members.
- Plans and lays out welding assignments from blueprints, sketches, drawings, specifications, and work orders.
- Performs sheet metal mechanic duties in a safe manner, utilizing safety practices and procedures.
- Operates and maintains complex hand and power tools and equipment to fabricate and repair items.
- Operates and maintains industrial-type sewing machine.
