Overview
The Pipefitter position involves installing, modifying, and repairing various utility and disposal systems, including high-pressure piping, steam heating, and water distribution systems. The role requires interpreting blueprints, performing installations, and ensuring systems operate efficiently and safely.
Responsibilities
- Interprets verbal and written instructions.
- Reads building utility blueprints to identify system components.
- Plans and lays out work using blueprints, specifications, and work orders.
- Installs and repairs valves, fittings, traps, fixtures, and drains.
- Demonstrates knowledge of lockout tag out procedures and operating systems.
- Joins, seals, and tests systems for proper pressure and leak-free operation.
- Establishes phasing sequences for installation and coordinates projects.
- Locates piping behind walls, under floors, and above ceilings.
- Measures, cuts, threads, and tiles pipe for installations.
- Installs and repairs fiberglass HVAC piping and related components.
- Determines methods and materials for installations.
- Makes material and parts requests for jobs and stock items.
- Applies knowledge of steam heating systems for troubleshooting.
- Runs supply lines for gas, air, or water with proper connections.
- Addresses scheduled service and general plumbing needs.
