Overview

Kleinfelder, a Forbes' Top Employer for Engineers in North America, is seeking an ASNT SNT-TC-1A NDT Level II Technician to support quality assurance and verification inspection and testing of materials and structural components for major transportation infrastructure projects. This role involves performing nondestructive testing and ensuring compliance with project requirements while fostering professional growth within a people-first culture.

Responsibilities

• Provide ASNT SNT-TC-1A Level II nondestructive testing services in assigned methods.
• Set up and calibrate NDT equipment, conduct tests, and document results.
• Perform NDT of structural steel weldments and other materials according to AWS standards.
• Conduct Phased Array Ultrasonic Testing (PAUT) as assigned.
• Perform material source inspection and field inspection for QA/V.
• Travel to job sites and fabrication shops for quality assurance verification.
• Prepare clear and accurate records and reports related to inspection activities.
• Maintain test equipment in good working order and keep calibration records.
• Comply with safety and health requirements and wear required personal protective equipment.
• Support ASNT NDT Level III with training and technical documentation activities.

Requirements

• Current ASNT SNT-TC-1A NDT Level II certification in at least two disciplines.
• Minimum one year of NDT experience.
• Ability to provide copies of current ASNT TC-1A Level II certifications upon hire.
• Demonstrated knowledge of fasteners and installation requirements.
• Working knowledge of AWS D1.5 Bridge Welding Code.
• Ability to read and interpret structural plans and specifications.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Significant experience in transportation facilities on at least two previous projects.
• Current California Driver's License and certification of Defensive Driving Training.
• Ability to work in shop and field environments.

Additional Information

• Work supports Caltrans Division of Engineering Services for projects throughout Southern California.
• Assignments may require travel beyond district boundaries, including out-of-state and international travel.
• Normal workweek is 40 hours, Monday through Friday, with potential night work.
• Candidates must complete employment reference checks and a background check.
