PumpMan is looking for a skilled, safety-focused Pump Mechanic to join our team in Baldwin Park, CA. In this role, you will play a critical part in maintaining and restoring vital water and wastewater infrastructure across the region. Operating primarily out of our fully equipped repair shop, you will perform teardowns, diagnostics, mechanical repairs, and complete rebuilds on a wide variety of pumps, motors, and rotating equipment.

Key Responsibilities
Mechanical Repair & Rebuilding: Perform complete teardowns, inspections, precision repairs, and rebuilds on diverse pumps (submersible, centrifugal, vertical turbine, end-suction), electric motors, and associated rotating assemblies. Diagnostics & Troubleshooting: Conduct thorough failure analyses and mechanical evaluations to accurately identify root causes and determine effective, cost-efficient repair solutions. Shop Maintenance & Rigging: Safely operate overhead cranes, hoists, forklifts, aerial work platforms, and shop equipment to move and manipulate heavy machinery. Precision Machining & Tooling: Safely operate hand tools, power tools, precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, dial indicators), and standard shop machinery. System Testing: Assist with pre- and post-repair testing to ensure reassembled equipment meets or exceeds operational specifications before deployment. Safety & Compliance: Strictly adhere to OSHA regulations, internal safety protocols, and company procedures to maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free workshop environment. Documentation & Teamwork: Maintain clear, accurate documentation of work performed and parts utilized; collaborate effectively with shop supervisors, machinists, and service technicians.
Required
Qualifications & Requirements
Experience: Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience inspecting, repairing, and rebuilding pumps and electric motors in a shop or field service environment. Technical Knowledge: Solid working knowledge of pump mechanics, mechanical seals, bearings, alignment, motor controls, and basic industrial electricity. Equipment Operation: Demonstrated capability to operate forklifts, rigging equipment, and shop tools safely. Safety Standards: Working knowledge of OSHA rules and industrial shop safety guidelines.
Preferred Skills & Certifications
Trade school degree, vocational training, or relevant technical certifications in mechanical/electrical repair. Prior experience specifically within the municipal, commercial, or industrial water and wastewater industries. Strong mechanical problem-solving ability and high attention to detail. Customer-focused attitude with strong communication and collaborative teamwork skills.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
Location: Primarily shop-based at our Baldwin Park, CA repair facility. Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand or kneel for extended periods, and safely maneuver heavy industrial equipment using material handling devices.
