Overview

Zekelman Industries is a family of companies and the largest independent steel pipe and tube manufacturer in North America, with a legacy dating back to 1877. The Test Preparer role at Atlas Tube involves supporting product quality through testing, inspection, and quality monitoring activities.

Responsibilities

  • Collect samples from mill areas for testing and evaluation
  • Prepare samples for required mechanical and quality testing
  • Operate and maintain testing lab equipment and machinery
  • Use measuring tools such as tape measures and micrometers to verify specifications
  • Enter mechanical testing results into SAP accurately
  • Perform work in compliance with company safety policies and report unsafe conditions
  • Communicate ongoing quality and departmental issues to the Quality Supervisor
  • Notify Quality Technicians or management of testing issues, including failures or equipment malfunctions
  • Report machine issues to maintenance personnel and quality leadership
  • Maintain housekeeping and organization of the work area
  • Train other employees as assigned by the supervisor
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Requirements

  • High school diploma or some college education, preferred
  • Familiarity with computers, email, and Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to use measuring equipment such as tape measures, micrometers, and calipers
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to read and interpret safety rules, procedures, and equipment manuals
  • Ability to prepare routine reports and effectively communicate with team members
  • Basic mathematical skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and working with fractions and decimals
  • Flexibility to work in an industrial environment and extended hours as needed
