Overview

You will serve as a WELDER in the STRUCTURAL SHOP, PRODUCTION RESOURCES DEPARTMENT of PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD, producing high-quality welds that meet stringent standards.

Responsibilities

• Inspect work for conformance to nuclear reactor plant specifications prior to formal inspection.
• Produce high-quality welds that must pass very high x-ray standards and specifications.
• Direct helpers, apprentices, and fire watchers.
• Observe safety rules and regulations of the activity.
• Perform welding operations primarily on nuclear and non-nuclear piping and pressure vessels.
