Job Description

Overview

The Pipefitter position involves modifying, maintaining, and repairing various high, medium, and low pressure piping systems. This role requires journeyman-level skills in mechanical systems maintenance and installation, including steam heat, chilled water, and medical gas systems.

Responsibilities

  • Repair plumbing systems and utility, supply, and disposal systems.
  • Work from building plans, blueprints, and sketches to plan and lay out systems.
  • Use tools such as plumb bobs, pipe threading machines, and hydrostatic pumps.
  • Install plumbing systems by locating and tapping main lines and placing hangers.
  • Determine and install valves, traps, and unions for proper system operation.
  • Modify plumbing systems and make adjustments for proper operation.
  • Maintain large centrifugal chilled water compressors and air handling equipment.
  • Perform installation, maintenance, and repair of various air conditioning equipment.
  • Install and repair high temperature water and high-pressure piping systems.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and specifications for piping systems.
  • Replace sections of pipe and repair steam traps and valves.
  • Test systems for proper operation and troubleshoot leaks.
  • Perform safety and preventive maintenance inspections.

Requirements

  • Journeyman-level skill in mechanical systems maintenance and installation.
  • Experience with steam heat, chilled water, and medical gas systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical specifications.
  • Skilled in using various plumbing tools and equipment.
  • Physical ability to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.

  • Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:00am - 3:30pm.
