Overview
The Pipefitter position involves modifying, maintaining, and repairing various high, medium, and low pressure piping systems. This role requires journeyman-level skills in mechanical systems maintenance and installation, including steam heat, chilled water, and medical gas systems.
Responsibilities
- Repair plumbing systems and utility, supply, and disposal systems.
- Work from building plans, blueprints, and sketches to plan and lay out systems.
- Use tools such as plumb bobs, pipe threading machines, and hydrostatic pumps.
- Install plumbing systems by locating and tapping main lines and placing hangers.
- Determine and install valves, traps, and unions for proper system operation.
- Modify plumbing systems and make adjustments for proper operation.
- Maintain large centrifugal chilled water compressors and air handling equipment.
- Perform installation, maintenance, and repair of various air conditioning equipment.
- Install and repair high temperature water and high-pressure piping systems.
- Read and interpret blueprints and specifications for piping systems.
- Replace sections of pipe and repair steam traps and valves.
- Test systems for proper operation and troubleshoot leaks.
- Perform safety and preventive maintenance inspections.
Requirements
- Journeyman-level skill in mechanical systems maintenance and installation.
- Experience with steam heat, chilled water, and medical gas systems.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical specifications.
- Skilled in using various plumbing tools and equipment.
- Physical ability to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.

- Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:00am - 3:30pm.
