Overview

General Dynamics NASSCO is seeking a Sheet Metal Mechanic J4 for their Sheet Metal Shop located in Norfolk, Virginia. This role involves shipboard construction and requires expertise in sheet metal fabrication and installation.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret mechanical drawings.
  • Layout, fabricate, install, and repair sheet metal products related to shipboard construction.
  • Have excellent knowledge of various types of metals and sizes.
  • Possess excellent knowledge of habitability layout and installation of metal joiner bulkheads, doors, berths, galleys, and office outfitting.
  • Operate press brake, hand brake, power rollers, hand rollers, and general sheet metal fabrication equipment.
  • Write WAFs and hot work tickets.
  • Perform trade quality assurance work with little to no supervision.

Requirements

  • Must meet all Journeyman 3 Sheetmetal Mechanic requirements.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings.
  • Excellent knowledge of HVAC and habitability related to shipboard construction.
  • Experience with sheet metal fabrication equipment.

Additional Information

  • Shift hours are 0600-1445 or 1430-2200 Monday-Sunday.
  • No security clearance required.
