Overview

Boeing Defense Space & Security is seeking Experienced Aircraft Sheet Metal Structures Mechanics to join their B-52 team in San Antonio, TX. The role involves performing various sheet metal fabrication and repair tasks on aircraft structures.

Responsibilities

• Perform close tolerance drilling, reaming, removal, and installation to critical support structures.
• Locate blind holes necessary for installation of new structural items.
• Seal, paint, shim, and preserve structures according to standard repair processes.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, technical orders, and specifications.
• Use tooling assemblies and fixtures for depot level modification and repair.
• Troubleshoot and repair aircraft mechanical components.
• Fabricate, construct, alter, repair, and maintain tooling and fixtures.
• Fabricate metals for aircraft development and modification.
• Maintain production tooling and perform first level fabrication.
• Read and interpret assembly drawings and job information.
• Operate manual, power-assisted, and power-operated machines.
• Form non-parallel and parallel bends on parts.
• Fabricate and repair aircraft components including leading edges and skins.
• Perform various metalworking tasks such as scarfing, blanking, and bending.
• Setup, fabricate, align, and hand form to specified tolerances.
• Perform work requiring operations from standard procedures.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience working with non-porous metals such as aluminum, titanium, and stainless.
• 10+ years of experience with schematics, specifications, assembly drawings, and standard operating procedures.
• 10+ years of experience using structures hand tools.
• 10+ years of experience working with heavy structures.
• 10+ years of experience with aircraft sheet metal fabrication and maintenance.
• Ability to access/enter a wing fuel tank opening.
• Ability to work in confined spaces for extended periods.
• Ability to work variable shifts including overtime, weekends, and holidays.
