Overview

The Boilermaker 1 position involves maintenance work on various piping systems and coal-fired boiler components, requiring troubleshooting skills and experience with flue gas desulfurization processes. Candidates must be self-motivated and able to work in challenging environments, including heights and confined spaces.

Responsibilities

  • Remove, replace, and repair various piping systems.
  • Work on coal-fired boiler components including soot blowers, burners, and dampers.
  • Troubleshoot and detect issues with machines and equipment in a coal-fired power plant.
  • Dismantle and reassemble pumps.
  • Read specifications to determine the scope of work.
  • Identify tools required for tasks and use them properly.
  • Identify safety risks and implement precautions.
  • Fabricate equipment according to blueprints or supervisor instructions.
  • Hoist equipment and tools into location using bull rigging or crane.
  • Perform minor pipe fabrication and prepare pipe and steel for welding.
  • Follow directions from supervision and demonstrate leadership abilities.
  • Read basic blueprints and understand craft specifications.
  • Know safe rigging practices and components.
  • Understand pipe connection procedures and use a torque wrench.
  • Read cut sheets and execute work based on drawings.
  • Utilize specialty tools and maintain equipment.
  • Perform basic maintenance inspections and safe operation practices.

Requirements

  • Must possess all Knowledge Skills and Abilities for the position.
  • 6 plus years of experience required.
  • NCCER written or NCCER Plus certification is mandatory.
  • Must meet all physical requirements.
  • Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces.
  • Must have all required tools.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Ability to work a rotating schedule including nights and weekends.
  • Self-motivated individual.

Additional Information

  • This position is maintenance work with no per diem offered.
