Overview
The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and improving conveyor systems and material handling equipment in a warehouse and distribution environment. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with industrial equipment and is committed to maintaining a safe and efficient operation.
Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain conveyor systems and material handling equipment.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical components including bearings, rollers, belts, chains, sprockets, motors, and gearboxes.
- Assist in troubleshooting basic electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
- Observe equipment operation and identify potential mechanical failures or performance issues.
- Remove, repair, or replace defective components to restore equipment functionality.
- Test equipment following repairs to verify safe and proper operation.
- Assist with installation and modification of conveyors and related equipment.
- Perform preventive maintenance activities according to established schedules and procedures.
- Inspect equipment for wear, damage, misalignment, lubrication deficiencies, and other maintenance concerns.
- Complete lubrication, belt adjustments, component replacements, and routine maintenance activities.
- Document maintenance findings and report equipment concerns to maintenance leadership.
- Support efforts to improve equipment reliability and reduce downtime.
- Assist with maintenance and repair of warehouse support equipment including dock equipment, fans, air compressors, and facility systems.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of maintenance work areas, tools, and equipment.
- Support emergency equipment repairs and operational uptime initiatives.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and work order documentation.
- Record labor hours, repairs completed, and parts used.
- Assist with identifying replacement parts and inventory requirements.
- Communicate equipment issues and repair status to maintenance leadership.
- Follow all OSHA, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), machine guarding, PPE, and company safety requirements.
- Report hazards, near misses, and unsafe conditions immediately.
- Ensure maintenance work is completed safely and according to established procedures.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
Additional Information
- Schedule: Sunday-Thursday 7:30p-4:00am.
- Regularly lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Work in warehouse and industrial environments with varying temperatures.
- Ability to work overtime, weekends, and alternative shifts as business needs require.
