Overview
The Heat Treat Operator position involves performing intermediate heat treat tasks with minimal assistance, including equipment setup, maintenance, and quality verification. The role requires certification and typically 2-3 years of experience.
Responsibilities
- Work safely under functional safety guidelines such as PPE and equipment interaction.
- Receive and release all incoming and outgoing orders in accordance with applicable specifications.
- Degrease all jobs requiring degreasing in accordance with applicable specifications.
- Prepare furnace loads in accordance with applicable specifications.
- Load, process and unload furnaces in accordance with applicable specifications.
- Unload furnace loads in accordance with applicable specifications.
- Perform probe check on all furnaces in accordance with applicable specifications.
- Perform Rockwell hardness test on jobs processed within the Heat Treat department.
- Perform preventive maintenance in accordance with applicable specifications.
- Perform the job function of a sandblaster and/or a Heat Treat Helper when needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- 2-3 years of experience.
- GED or High School diploma preferred but not required.
- Ability to read and write English.
- Introductory competence in shop math such as working with fractions and decimals.
- Basic knowledge of inspection tools and their proper use.
- Basic knowledge of machine tools.
- Ability to interpret written instruction on shop travelers.
- Capable of setting up and running parts as required.
- Certification required.
