Overview

Academy Bus is seeking an Auto Body Repair Technician that specializes in Welding for their Secaucus, NJ location. The role is vital for maintaining and enhancing the fleet of vehicles, ensuring safety and reliability.

Responsibilities

• Perform welding tasks on various vehicle components using techniques such as Flux-cored (FCAW), Stick (SMAW), TIG (FTAW), MIG (GMAW), and Oxy-acetylene welding.
• Read and interpret blueprints and schematics to execute precise welding projects.
• Utilize hand tools and machinery effectively to complete welding assignments.
• Conduct routine inspections of welded components to ensure quality standards are met.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area while adhering to safety protocols.

Requirements

• At least five years of experience welding.
• Must have the ability to repair/patch rust.
• Proficiency in Welding Processes including MIG (GMAW), TIG (GTAW), Stick (SMAW), Flux-cored (FCAW), and Oxy-acetylene welding.
• Accurate measuring, cutting, and aligning materials.
• Understanding of quality standards and visual or mechanical weld inspection.
• Familiarity with different metals such as carbon steel, stainless, and aluminum.
• Fabrication skills including cutting, bending, and grinding.
• Basic machining or metal finishing experience.
• Knowledge of welding codes and procedures for industries like oil & gas, aerospace, or shipbuilding.
• Strong understanding and practice of welding safety procedures.

Additional Information

• 1st and 2nd shift available.
• All welding material is supplied by the company.
• Must have own toolbox and hand tools including grinders, wrenches, and sockets up to ½ drive.
