Overview

The Rapid Group (TRG) is seeking an experienced Welder to join Rapid Pump and Meter Service Co. in Hauppauge, NY. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of welding processes and metal fabrication, supporting both shop and field service operations.

Responsibilities

  • Perform MIG, TIG, Stick, and FluxCore welding on various metals.
  • Fabricate, repair, and modify industrial equipment and piping systems.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, specifications, and work orders.
  • Measure, cut, grind, fit, and assemble materials to precise specifications.
  • Inspect welds to ensure compliance with quality standards.
  • Operate fabrication equipment including saws, grinders, and plasma cutters.
  • Assist with pump, motor, and mechanical equipment repairs.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Follow OSHA regulations and company safety policies.
  • Work collaboratively with mechanics, technicians, and supervisors.
  • Participate in field welding and emergency service work.
  • Complete required documentation and work reports accurately.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 5-10 years of professional welding and fabrication experience.
  • Proficiency in MIG, TIG, and Stick welding processes.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and fabrication plans.
  • Strong knowledge of welding codes, techniques, and safety standards.
  • Experience working with industrial equipment, pumps, and mechanical systems.
  • Ability to safely operate fabrication and metalworking equipment.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and perform physically demanding work.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
