Overview

Magellan Aerospace is a global aerospace company specializing in complex assemblies and systems solutions for aircraft and engine manufacturers, as well as defense and space agencies. They are seeking a Weld Clean-up / Precision Finisher to join their elite aerospace weld repair shop, responsible for the repair of aluminum and magnesium sand castings.

Responsibilities

  • Receive work assignments from group leader.
  • Use pneumatic powered tools to grind and polish castings to required shapes and surface finish.
  • Utilize calipers, templates, straight edges, and gauges.
  • Blue and paint castings for scribing using templates to maintain configuration.
  • Prepare castings for welding.
  • Clean and shape castings after welding.
  • Interpret X-Ray film to blend/remove defects.
  • Remove defects as indicated on x-ray film as required.
  • Alternate between cleanup & dig out roles to accommodate immediate demand.
  • Notify department lead and/or group leader of job irregularities, faulty equipment, or material.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work station per company 6S criteria.
  • Observe plant safety rules and regulations.

Requirements

  • Minimum five years in manufacturing or production environment preferred.
  • High School Diploma preferred.
  • Experienced with pneumatic tools, die grinders, cutters, and abrasives.
  • Ability to use height gages, micrometers, calipers, etc., to measure, check and correlate information with specifications.
  • Must be able to deadlift 50lbs with appropriate technique.
  • Must be able to work on feet for 8+ hours/day.
  • Must be able/willing to work overtime, including Saturdays, when/if needed.
  • Must be able to speak and comprehend English (bilingual in Spanish preferred).
