Overview
The CNC Machine Operator I position at Klein Tools is a trainee/apprentice level role responsible for producing machined parts using CNC machines while maintaining quality and safety standards. The company emphasizes curiosity, ownership, and urgency in delivering innovative products.
Responsibilities
- Operate drill presses, manual milling machines, CNC milling machines, manual lathes, and CNC lathes under close supervision.
- Load and unload raw materials and parts into the machine.
- Inspect and measure finished products using calipers, gauges, micrometers, and other machinist hand tools.
- Compare finished products to drawing specifications to ensure adherence to quality standards.
- Maintain specifications by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting operations and taking measurements.
- Notify the supervisor or area lead if more complex tool or machine adjustments are required.
- Optimize production by performing secondary work such as deburring or drilling while machines are running.
- Keep work area clean and orderly, complying with established 5S standards.
- Maintain a safe work environment by following and promoting company, OSHA, and EPA rules and regulations.
- Perform other duties as required within the nature and level of work.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
- Experience in a machine shop environment is preferred.
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand basic English.
- Proficiency in basic math and trigonometry.
- Ability to communicate and work as a team member.
- Ability to use measuring tools.
