Responsibilities & Expectations
Complete welding jobs on various structures, while maintaining high standards and consistently producing accurate work – supporting our industrial construction and electrical projects in the shop and field.
Correctly design, cut, shape, and weld pieces of metal together Prepares materials for welding – fabricate, manufacture, grind and clean metal Utilizes fabrication skills to complete all phases of fabrication Follow blueprints to ensure exact specifications of output Provides feedback and input into the fabrication process regarding order of assembly, design, materials, fixtures and jigs Notes and marks up customer blueprints for future reference Conceptualizes and makes fixtures Ensures correct documentation and processes are followed for standardized work process Produces accurate work that is of high quality Inspect and test welds and equipment - ensure safety of equipment, as well as strength and tolerance of welds
Qualifications And Competencies
Must have at least 3 years of experience operating a vehicle with a valid, unrestricted driver’s license. Experience level should be mid-level to experienced, not entry-level Experienced in welding/ fabrication, including TIG, MIG, ARC, and dual-shield welding Stainless TIG experience (industrial beams, not Sheetmetal) desired. Pipe welding experience desired Familiar with common welding tools and procedures Blueprint reading and knowledge of common welding symbols and specifications No formal qualification is required, but a high school diploma is preferred Welding certification or courses completed in welding techniques, a plus Handles the physical demands of the job, including standing, walking, kneeling, bending, crouching, pulling, pushing, climbing, using required hand tools, and lifting at least 50 pounds Knowledge of industry safety practices Communicate effectively Works well independently and with a team Strong basic math skills and high mechanical aptitude Driving to jobs is a regular function of this role Must be willing to confidently submit to the background and drug screening process
