Overview

Laitram Machinery is seeking an experienced TIG Welder responsible for fitting and welding stainless steel seafood processing equipment and other mechanical equipment. The company has a long history of manufacturing high-performance equipment designed to improve efficiency and product quality for processors worldwide.

Responsibilities

  • Lay out, fit and weld fabricated parts to construct weldments consistent with engineering drawings.
  • Document and report issues/deviations affecting form, fit or function.
  • Verify weldment dimensions using basic measuring tools to ensure design tolerances are met.
  • Adjust welding equipment to effectively weld different types/thicknesses of material.
  • Maintain all welding equipment and hand tools in working condition.
  • Use computer terminal to issue materials, record/apply shop order labor and clock in/out each day.

Requirements

  • Must have a High School or vocational school diploma.
  • Minimum 2 years TIG welding experience.
  • Must be able to read and interpret engineering drawings and bill of materials.
  • Must be a self-managed team player.
  • Must be fluent in both written and spoken English.
  • Must have basic Math skills and the ability to accurately read/use a tape measure.
  • Must be able to successfully use a computer to access manufacturing shop floor control system.
  • Must be able to identify and operate basic hand tools and small power tools.
  • Must be willing to crosstrain in other work centers if/as needed.
  • Must have a passion for doing a job well.
  • Able to work overtime; some limited travel may be required.
  • Must be able to perform essential job requirements in the Functional Job Description for this position, including lifting 50 pounds.
