Overview

Applied Materials is a global leader in materials engineering solutions for semiconductor manufacturing and advanced displays. The company is seeking an experienced Orbital Welder III to join their precision fabrication team, focusing on high-quality welding in a cleanroom-adjacent environment.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate orbital welding equipment to join stainless steel and specialty alloy tubing.
  • Read and interpret work orders, blueprints, and weld procedure specifications.
  • Perform mechanical assembly, disassembly, troubleshooting, and repair of subassemblies.
  • Inspect completed welds visually and with precision measuring instruments.
  • Purge, weld, and verify high-purity gas and chemical delivery lines.
  • Utilize test fixtures and leak detectors to test finished assemblies.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed in the production tracking system.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot orbital welding equipment.
  • Observe safety standards and maintain a clean work area.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts by identifying process inefficiencies.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical diploma or associate degree preferred.
  • Completion of a formal welding training program preferred.
  • 3-5 years of hands-on welding experience in a relevant environment.
  • Current or attainable welder certification such as AWS D1.1/D1.6 or equivalent.
  • Capable of orbital GTAW/TIG welding of stainless steel tube and pipe.
  • Ability to read and apply AWS welding symbols and engineering drawings.
  • Experience with high-purity cleanliness standards is a plus.
  • Basic computer literacy for data entry into manufacturing systems.
