Overview
The Lab Tech Helper position is an entry-level role at Weber Metals, where the employee will undergo extensive training to develop technical skills necessary for various lab positions. This role requires compliance with ITAR regulations and is open only to US citizens or permanent residents.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Weber Metals Safety Policy.
- Understand the Weber Metals Quality Policy and its relevance to the job.
- Be aware of the Weber Metals Environmental Policy.
- Perform lab housekeeping activities as directed.
- Learn to operate a forklift for transferring test materials.
- Excise test blanks from simple test forgings using an aluminum band saw.
- Manage temporary storage and disposal of test remnants and prolongations.
- Operate alloy check machines and assist in receiving forging stocks.
- Bookkeep and receive test material stock.
- Help create shipper orders for sending test materials for outside testing.
- Receive and enter data from outside testing certifications into the ERP system.
- Assist in operating CNC lathe for preparing test bars for tensile testing.
- Machine tensile blanks using a fly-cutter for EC and hardness testing.
- Machine grain flow sections using a fly-cutter.
- Learn to identify test remnants after excising test specimens.
- Perform hardness and conductivity tests on test materials.
- Complete all work-related activities as requested by the Lab Supervisor.
Requirements
- Must comply with ITAR and EAR residency requirements.
- High School diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- Preferred work experience in manufacturing, testing, machining, or sawing.
