Overview
BAE Systems is seeking motivated entry-level Welders for their Submarine program at the Jacksonville Maritime Solutions shipyard. The role involves fabrication and welding tasks essential for submarine manufacturing.
Responsibilities
- Welding on a wide variety of materials using various weld processes.
- Welding structural assemblies using GMAW and SMAW during submarine construction.
- Participating in continuous training in traditional and new welding processes.
- Using pneumatic tools such as grinders and wire brushes.
- Performing oxy/fuel pre-heat and carbon/arc gouging.
- Reading and interpreting weld symbols, technique sheets, and work packages.
- Adhering to safety, health, and environmental policies.
- Utilizing welding procedures and symbols effectively.
- Using measuring tools and gauges to verify dimensions of weld joints.
- Passing groove-weld qualification tests for multiple materials and processes.
Requirements
- Must be a graduate or current student of ATDM.
- MIG Welding experience or training.
- Structural welding experience.
- Vocational, Technical and Community Colleges or Apprentice programs.
- Experience working in the construction industry or a manufacturing environment.
- Basic mathematical skills.
- Ability to interpret welding and shipyard procedures, structural drawings, and technical manuals.
