Overview

BAE Systems is seeking motivated entry-level Welders for their Submarine program at the Jacksonville Maritime Solutions shipyard. The role involves fabrication and welding tasks essential for submarine manufacturing.

Responsibilities

  • Welding on a wide variety of materials using various weld processes.
  • Welding structural assemblies using GMAW and SMAW during submarine construction.
  • Participating in continuous training in traditional and new welding processes.
  • Using pneumatic tools such as grinders and wire brushes.
  • Performing oxy/fuel pre-heat and carbon/arc gouging.
  • Reading and interpreting weld symbols, technique sheets, and work packages.
  • Adhering to safety, health, and environmental policies.
  • Utilizing welding procedures and symbols effectively.
  • Using measuring tools and gauges to verify dimensions of weld joints.
  • Passing groove-weld qualification tests for multiple materials and processes.

Requirements

  • Must be a graduate or current student of ATDM.
  • MIG Welding experience or training.
  • Structural welding experience.
  • Vocational, Technical and Community Colleges or Apprentice programs.
  • Experience working in the construction industry or a manufacturing environment.
  • Basic mathematical skills.
  • Ability to interpret welding and shipyard procedures, structural drawings, and technical manuals.
