Overview
The Boilermaker 3 position involves removing, replacing, and repairing piping systems and various components of coal-fired boilers. Candidates should have experience with flue gas desulfurization processes and be able to troubleshoot equipment in a coal-fired power plant.
Responsibilities
- Remove, replace and/or repair various piping systems.
- Work on coal-fired boiler components including soot blowers, burners, and dampers.
- Troubleshoot and detect issues with machines and equipment.
- Dismantle and reassemble pumps.
- Read specifications to determine the scope of work.
- Identify tools required for tasks and use them properly.
- Identify safety risks and implement precautions.
- Fabricate equipment according to blueprints or supervisor instructions.
- Hoist equipment and tools using bull rigging or crane.
- Perform steel fabrication and minor pipe fabrication.
- Prepare pipe and steel for welding procedures.
- Follow directions from supervision.
- Demonstrate leadership abilities and perform all job duties of the craft trade.
- Stop work for misinformation or safety concerns.
- Read basic blueprints and craft specifications.
- Understand rigging practices and components.
- Connect pipes and install valves using proper procedures.
- Plan work, execute tasks, and manage helpers.
Requirements
- 6 plus years of experience.
- NCCER written or NCCER Plus certification.
- Ability to meet all physical requirements.
- Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces.
- Must have all required tools.
- Reliable transportation.
- Ability to work a rotating schedule including nights and weekends.
- Self-motivated.
- Knowledge of specialty tools and welding/cutting techniques.
- Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
Additional Information
- Must have a valid driver's license.
- Employees will be required to adhere to physical demands including standing, walking, bending, and lifting.
- Work environment includes all weather conditions and moderate to high noise levels.
