Overview
The Welder Structural 1 position involves performing maintenance welding tasks using GTAW/SMAW techniques on carbon and stainless steel. Candidates must pass a standard pipe test and have over four years of industrial welding experience.
Responsibilities
- Selects equipment and plans layouts, assembly, and welding applying knowledge of geometry and welding techniques.
- Layout, position, align, cut, assemble, and fit metal components together in various body positions.
- Bolts, clamps, and tack-welds parts to secure in position for welding.
- Sets up equipment and welds parts using various welding equipment.
- Welds metal materials to piping systems using appropriate procedures.
- Identify all equipment for job and process.
- Identify all safety risks and requirements.
Requirements
- Must be able to take a standard pipe test.
- Must be able to read blueprints and engineering drawings.
- Must have 4+ years of industrial welding experience.
- Must be able to stick weld in 2G, 3G, and 4G conditions.
- Must be proficient in welding with various rods including 6010 & 7018.
- Must have knowledge of various metals and their welding processes.
- Must successfully pass a weld test.
- Must have experience welding multiple types of materials.
- Must have reliable transportation.
- Must be able to work at heights as required.
- Must meet all physical demands.
Additional Information
- This position does not have any direct reports but will oversee helpers and labor positions.
- Employee will be required to adhere to large amounts of standing, walking, bending, and lifting.
- Must be able to work in all weather conditions while wearing appropriate PPE.
