Overview

WSP is a leading professional services firm focused on power delivery, generation, and project management. They are seeking a Process Piping Designer to join their team in Greenville, SC, with opportunities to work on diverse projects across various locations.

Responsibilities

  • Develop process piping models and equipment arrangements with minimal direction.
  • Conduct field verification responsibilities on established and construction sites.
  • Ensure quality assurance of process piping design deliverables.
  • Utilize 3D CADD software to prepare precise drawings and resolve design discrepancies.
  • Provide technical design assistance and guidance according to design standards and codes.
  • Consult on work progress and problem resolution, potentially overseeing design support activities.
  • Prepare multiple design versions for engineer review.
  • Monitor drafting and design plans for quality control and compliance.
  • Collaborate with engineers and technical professionals on project phases.
  • Apply analytical techniques to solve complex engineering issues.
  • Engage with clients and contractors for project coordination.
  • Attend pre-construction meetings and address contractor inquiries.
  • Guide and train entry-level drafting and design support staff.
  • Stay current with drafting and design support knowledge and practices.
  • Make responsible decisions regarding company resources and conduct.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related discipline or 10+ years of equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years of design/drafting experience with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.
  • High-level experience with both public and private sector work.
  • 3D modeling design experience using Hexagon CADWorx or Hexagon Smartplant.
  • Coordination model experience with Navisworks.
  • Proficient in drafting and design support principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of relevant codes, regulations, and compliance practices.
  • Technical competence in leading and reviewing computations and calculations.
  • Ability to work independently and provide leadership to team members.
  • Experience in preparing technical deliverables with high complexity.
  • Strong proficiency in client and regulatory coordination.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in technical writing and office automation tools.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven track record of workplace safety adherence.
  • Flexibility to adapt to various schedules and prioritize responsibilities.
  • Occasional travel may be required.
