Overview
NorthStar Energy Services, a Quanta Services, Inc. company, provides engineering, design, procurement, construction, and support services to various industries. They are seeking an experienced Designer for their Professional Engineering Consulting team in Arlington or Houston, Texas.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain 3D piping models using CADWorx Plant.
- Create 3D equipment models utilizing CADWorx Equipment.
- Generate piping isometrics from 3D models using CADWorx Isogen.
- Produce equipment and piping layout designs based on PFDs and P&IDs.
- Coordinate with engineering and design disciplines for model integration and design accuracy.
- Participate in 3D model coordination activities, including clash detection.
- Coordinate with stress and pipe support engineers and construction teams during piping design development.
- Assist Discipline Engineers in reviewing vendor equipment drawings for compliance.
- Support project teams in maintaining accurate models and documentation.
- Prepare drawings, layouts, and conceptual sketches for construction activities.
- Compile and maintain project documentation and communicate updates to the Piping Lead.
- Prepare orthographic drawings derived from 3D models.
- Develop plans, sections, details, and isometric drawings.
- Utilize and manage external reference drawing files for project consistency.
- Generate Bills of Materials from 3D models.
- Produce 2D detailed drawings for various project deliverables.
- Apply quality control procedures and checklists for deliverables.
- Support design reviews and client meetings by revising project deliverables.
- Maintain revision control and ensure updates are captured as construction-ready documentation.
- Research and apply company drafting standards and regulatory codes.
- Perform independent QA/QC reviews of piping design and deliverables.
- Verify site-development drawings align with piping design intent.
- Support Professional Engineers during the design phase.
- Coordinate piping drafting requirements with multi-discipline project teams.
- Review drawings from other disciplines for coordination and consistency.
- Review and respond to RFIs to maintain drawing accuracy.
- Review third-party vendor drawings for compatibility with piping design.
Requirements
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical discipline.
- Minimum of three years of experience in piping systems design.
- Minimum of five years of current experience with AutoCAD, CADWorx, Navisworks, and Microsoft Office.
- Detailed knowledge of ASME B31.3, ASME B31.4, and ASME B31.8.
- Ability to independently research and interpret equipment data and technical references.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with various stakeholders.
