Overview

WSP, a leading professional services firm, is seeking a Process Piping Designer to join their team in Greenville, SC, and other locations. The role involves developing process piping models and collaborating with engineers to meet client objectives in power generation projects.

Responsibilities

• Develop process piping models and equipment arrangements with minimal direction.
• Conduct field verification responsibilities on established sites and sites in construction.
• Ensure quality control and contract compliance of process piping design deliverables.
• Use 3D CADD software to prepare precise drawings for moderate- to large-scale projects.
• Provide technical design assistance and guidance in accordance with design standards.
• Act as a consultant on work progress and problem resolution.
• Prepare multiple versions of designs for review by engineers.
• Monitor drafting and design plans to document work progress and issues.
• Collaborate with engineers and technical professionals on project phases.
• Apply analytical techniques to solve complex engineering issues.
• Engage with clients and contractors for project coordination.
• Attend pre-construction meetings and address contractor inquiries.
• Provide guidance and training to entry-level drafting and design support staff.
• Remain current in drafting and design support knowledge and practices.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in a closely related discipline or 10+ years of equivalent experience.
• 10+ years of relevant design/drafting experience with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.
• High-level experience with public and private sector work.
• 3D modeling design experience using Hexagon CADWorx or Hexagon Smartplant.
• Coordination model experience with Navisworks.
• Proficient in drafting and design support principles and practices.
• Knowledge of relevant codes, regulations, and compliance practices.
• Demonstrated technical competence in leading and reviewing computations.
• Ability to work independently and provide leadership to project members.
• Experience in preparing technical deliverables with high complexity.
• Strong proficiency in coordinating with clients and technical staff.
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
• Advanced proficiency in technical writing and office automation tools.
• Critical thinking and problem-solving skills to achieve project objectives.
• Track record of upholding workplace safety and compliance with policies.
• Flexibility to adapt to various schedules and prioritize responsibilities.
• Occasional travel may be required.
