Overview
The Underground Equipment Operator is an entry-level position focused on the construction, maintenance, and repair of electrical underground distribution systems. This role may require travel to various locations based on customer demands.
Responsibilities
- Work safely on energized and de-energized underground systems.
- Assist with installing underground transformers.
- Replace fuses in transformers and clear faulted circuits.
- Maintain company vehicles, equipment, and tools.
- Perform rigorous physical labor.
- Understand and operate heavy equipment.
- Learn basic knowledge of materials used.
- Identify primary and secondary voltage on circuits.
- Assist with installation and hookup of single-phase transformers.
- Check voltage on transformers and inspect rubber goods and PPE.
- Work outside in various weather conditions.
Requirements
- 1-2 years of experience required.
- Able to read and communicate effectively in English.
- Able to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License permit within 60 days of employment.
- A Commercial Driver’s License is preferred.
- Able to lift in excess of 50 lbs.
- Directional Drilling experience is preferred.
- Willing to work overtime and outside normal work schedules.
Additional Information
- Must be able to travel long distances on short notice.
- Capable of working at heights and in confined spaces.
