Overview
WSP USA is seeking a Senior Consultant in Ports and Marine Engineering to join their National Maritime Practice Group, providing engineering support for port, marine, and intermodal rail terminal projects. The role involves leadership in project development, design, and construction across various locations in the U.S.
Responsibilities
- Provide leadership for engineering tasks including data collection and analysis for project development.
- Lead development of construction plans, schedules, specifications, and cost estimates for marine projects.
- Coordinate field work activities and implement site safety activity plans.
- Lead cross-functional teams to execute project work on mid-level and concurrent smaller projects.
- Write technical reports and document findings using engineering software.
- Apply engineering techniques to develop project design requirements and identify risks.
- Create computer structural analytical models for marine structures.
- Prepare design documentation for structural components and foundation systems.
- Prepare project task budgets and schedules for review.
- Present findings and recommendations to team members and clients.
- Interact with regulatory agencies, subcontractors, and clients professionally.
- Conduct inspections of port terminals and assess conditions of elements.
- Exercise responsible decision-making regarding company resources and conduct.
- Complete all assigned trainings.
- Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited program.
- 5 to 7 years of relevant engineering experience with marine project-specific design.
- EIT or similar certification/licensure.
- Proficiency in SAP2000 and/or equivalent finite element software.
- Experience with AutoCAD, REVIT, and related BIM tools.
- Demonstrated construction experience in ports and marine projects.
- Understanding of multidisciplinary team coordination and design standards.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Capable of self-leadership with attention to detail and multi-tasking.
- Proven track record of upholding workplace safety policies.
- Occasional travel may be required.
